Clifford “Cliff” Wayne Howard, Jr., age 69, of Knoxville was welcomed home by His Savior on June 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was born on March 24, 1949, to Clifford and Wilma Jean Howard. He entered the US Army in 1967 where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He received many commendations for his dedication and bravery including a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. The discipline and patriotism he gained in the US Army never left him, as family and friends will attest. His work ethic and dedication to excellence were unmatched in all he did throughout this life. His greatest joy was his family and in sharing the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Howard and Wilma Jean Bates Howard. Cliff “Haney” is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Patsy Carmon Howard; daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Greg Collier; daughter, Amelia “Amy” Howard; son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Annie Howard; son, Will Howard; daughter, Jessica Howard; precious grandchildren - his pride and joy and lights of his life – Madison Collier, Colton Howard and Caroline Howard; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Debbie Howard; sisters, Jean Carole Howard and Linda Howard; and several nieces and nephews and special friends.
The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with the service to follow at 8:00pm, with Rev. Lee Strunk officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:15am, Monday, June 11, 2018, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for interment at 11:30am. Pallbearers will be Tracy Howard, Will Howard, Greg Collier, Robert Stokes, Scott Howard and Shane Howard.
