Christina “Chris” Malinda Brooks-Collins was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 23, 1931. She entered Heaven’s gates on May 29, 2018.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a homemaker for most of her life, Christina was a good cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family members and friends. She loved holidays and preparing and catering meals for her children and family through the holiday seasons. Over the years she collected many cookbooks from various organizations. She also loved to watch the food and cooking channels. She was a sports fan of the University of Tennessee’s Volunteers football team “Go Vols”. She enjoyed eating out, music, walking, reading, and volunteering in her community, helping others with special meals who was less fortunate with no families. Christina “Chris” had an unwavering faith in God. She was also a talented piano player and was a member of the choir for many years. She passed her musical talents on to her children. Christina was preceded in death by her sisters Gladys Ferguson, Elizabeth Smith; her brother and his wife William and Eloise Brooks and her grandson Little Jimmy. Christina is survived by her sons Richard M. Collins and his wife Charlene of Seymour, TN, Charles D. Collins and his wife Karen of Tulsa, OK, and John F. Collins III of Tulsa, OK; daughters Sherri Collins of Tampa, FL, Tammye Thomas and her husband Daniel of Daphne, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard Collins II, Nathaniel Collins and wife Cayce, Chuck Collins and wife Jamie, Aaron Burkhart, Adam Burkhart and her granddaughter Alexis Thomas-Haines and husband Joey of Savannah, GA. Great-grandchildren Caitlin, Matthew, Megan, Ryder, Chole, and Noah. Her brother Daniel Brooks and wife Tammy of Knoxville, TN, and many nieces and nephews. The family gives much thanks, love, and all their gratitude to those who helped care for her through the last few months. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City. Funeral service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City. Joshua Ferguson to speak.
