Christina Lucille Riffey

Riffey, Christina Lucille, age 105, joined her loved ones in Heaven on Monday, January 30th, 2017. She was born September 26th, 1911, to the union of Naomi Cox Humphries and George Humphries, and was preceded in death by all 8 siblings. Also, preceding her in death was her husband of 46 years, David Dallas Riffey, Sr., along with her daughters Flora Etta Leadbetter and Marion McClain, sons, David Dallas Riffey, Jr. and Jack Eugene Riffey, 6 sons-in-law and 4 grandchildren. Chris loved her God and her family. She was a member of North Acres Baptist Church, though she had not been able to attend for several years. In the years before she passed away, her eyesight and hearing were fading, but her mind was still very sharp. Until her late 80’s, she was an avid dancer and bowler and loved to sew, making over 500 quilt tops. In her younger days, she did lots of carpenter work, even building a large part of the house we grew up in. She lived alone until the age of 101 and took care of her house and yard until well into her 90’s. She had some very special friends, Helen and Ben Norton and Johnny and Kim Lynch. All who knew our mother knew she loved a party, and she was happiest when she was surrounded by people. Nothing pleased her more than to dress up in a garb for birthday parties and Halloween. Chris and Dallas were blessed with nine children in all and she leaves behind to cherish her memory Ruby Hitch, Edna (Jerry) Newman, Hazel Bennett, Ruth (Ronnie) Moore, and Frances Stalsworth; daughters-in-law Jessie Riffey and Ginny Riffey. Also 28 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 50 great-great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-great-grandchildren, which made 6 living generations. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1st, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with funeral service at 8:00 p.m. Rev. J.C. Newman will be officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. interment service on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Alcoa, TN.
