Charles Ray Robertson

Charles Ray Robertson, age 89, passed away on April 20, 2016 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born August 13, 1926 in Clouds, Tennessee to Richard and Mossie Robertson. He received Jesus Christ as his Savior as a young adult and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Halls. Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1952. He served in WWII and the Korean War as a Master Sergeant in the Corps of Engineers. After service, he worked for Dempster Brothers until retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mossie Robertson; brothers, Frank, Wayne, Bob, and Clay Robertson. Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Dobbs Robertson; sons and wives, Scott and Brenda Robertson and Allen and Barbara Robertson; sister, Ruth Robertson; granddaughters, Daphne and Shelby Robertson; and step-granddaughters, Audrey and Emma Nitz, along with several nephews, nieces, and many friends. The family would like to thank the Tennova Residential Hospice staff for the wonderful care they provided. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm, Rev. John Holland officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church building fund. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Friday at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery for 11:00 am interment.
