Charles Hewitt, Jr., age 90, of Powell, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 19, 2016, surrounded by his family. Charles was a proud member of Highland View Missionary Baptist Church in Halls. Charles retired after over 30 years of service with Pyle Furniture and Floyd Roach Furniture Company. Preceded in death by wives, Jennie Taliaferro Hewitt of 42 years and Rema Ellis Finley Hewitt of 22 years; daughter, Linda Hewitt; parents, Charles Hewitt, Sr. and Beulah Bright Hewitt of Powell; sister, LaVada Hewitt Stooksbury of Heiskell; brothers, Bernard and Eldred Hewitt of Powell. Survived by son, Rev. Larry Hewitt and wife Elizabeth of Powell; daughter, Brenda Hewitt Cupp and husband Darrell of Corryton; granddaughters, Shannon and Megan Hewitt of Powell, LeAnn Cupp Hammer and Robbie of Rutledge, Jennifer Cupp Johnson and Travis of Corryton; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Matthew Paul of Powell, Tyler and Abigail Johnson of Corryton, Wyatt and Colby Hammer of Rutledge; sister, Mary Ann Hewitt Mynatt of Powell. Special thank you to UT Hospice and Cathy Ford and Sue Drinnon for their loving care for Pop. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to U.T. Hospice Promise Foundation or Pat Summitt’s Alzheimer’s Foundation. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with service to follow, Rev. Terry Walker officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Monday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church off Norris Freeway for 11:00 am interment.
