Celia Marie Sparks, 86, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
She was born on December 13, 1938, to the late Robert Alexander and Beulah Alice (Freels) Galbrath.
Celia loved traveling out West, especially to Wyoming and Colorado. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and was active at West Park Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher to five-year-olds for many years.
She worked at the Department of Energy for roughly seven years as an administrative assistant, before co-owning the Snow White Restaurant in Oak Ridge.
Celia always kept in touch with her nieces and nephews. She passed along her love of animals, both foreign and domestic, to her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beulah Galbrath; brother, Ray Galbrath; sisters, Dolores Centers, Betty Campbell and Bonnie Duff; and her best friend, Shirley Young.
Celia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill; son, Jeff Sparks; daughter, Missy Sponcia; grandchildren, Savannah Mitchell (Hayden), Samantha Sponcia, and Alex Sponcia; brother, Harlan Galbrath; and sister, Mary Coleman (George).
Friends may call at their convenience on Friday, February 7th, 2025, from 10am-5pm, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel.
A graveside service at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens will be on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at 11am, with Bryan Hair officiating.
Celia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who devoted her life to her family and Christian faith. She was the love of Bill’s life, and she will be deeply missed.
