Cecile Minnie Robbins Nokes, 79 a long-time resident of the Fountain City area passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2017 with her family at her side. Cecile was the second born daughter to the late John Herman Robbins and Dollace Hutchison Robbins. Cecile never met a stranger, a trait that served her well in life and in her career. She was a successful bus driver for Loy Bus Lines and a food service worker for Shannondale Nursing Home. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was being a devoted wife to Gene and mother to her boys. Cecile was preceded in death by her husband. Robert Eugene Nokes Sr.; brothers, Sammy and Dale Robbins and sister, Mildred Robbins Worley. She is survived by her two loving sons, Robert (Jessica) and John (Kim) Nokes. Cecile was known as “Mamaw” to six granddaughters, Leslie, Amanda, Victoria (Sam), Alexandria, Bailey and Addison; brothers, George (Nancy), Jay (Donna) and Walter Robbins and a sister Marion Robbins Cuykendall. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family who loved her dearly. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19 from 5-7pm at The Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, 2829 Rennoc Road, Knoxville 865-688-2331. A funeral service will follow the visitation with Rev. Toby Webber officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, 10:45am in the Union Baptist Cemetery, Highway 33 in Knoxville for an 11am interment. Granddaughters will serve as pallbearers.
