Cecil Ann Mannis, age 77, of Knoxville, TN, passed away after an extended illness on November 13, 2018. She retired as a Unit Secretary for UT Medical Center. She was a longtime member of Olivet Baptist Church. She was known for her sense of humor, laugh, and love of playing Shanghai Rummy and Aggravation. However, she was mostly known for her love of and devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil John Haynes and Edith Baldwin Boling; daughter, Susan Jane (Janie) Mannis; great-grandson, Jaxon Avery Long; and niece, Melodi Dawn Kooch.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, N. Ray Mannis, Sr.; children; daughters, Carol Ann (John) Delius, Diane Mannis, Tia (Michael) Churchman; and sons, Ray (Sheila) Mannis, Jr., John Mannis, and Joseph Mannis. While she loved her children with all her heart, her heart was especially wrapped around her 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Kooch; brother-in-law, Cecil (Kathryn) Mannis and sister-in-law, Anna Ruth (James) Allison; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and many special friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 5-7 P.M., with service to follow at 7 P.M. at Olivet Baptist Church, 4701 Pleasant Ridge Road in Knoxville, officiated by Pastor Matt Caldwell. Family and friends will meet at 8:45 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery for a 9 A.M. graveside service, officiated by Reverend Tony Hurst.
