Cary Stephen Valentine

Valentine, Cary Stephen (Stevie), age 74, passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2025. 

Preceded in death by parents, Aaron and Kathleen Valentine, and brother, Daryl Valentine. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, L’Rae Valentine, and their son, Jonathan Valentine, who resides in Chicago; godchildren Jake Mynatt, Christy Kaufman and Kacey Scates; bonus daughter Teresa Koesler; sister Gale Dunsmore Rhea, nieces Kim (Artie) Davis and Kristi (Bill) Ballew; lifelong friend, Alice Overholt. 

Stevie served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War and worked for many years as a brakeman for Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He loved the mountains of Sevier County, where his parents were raised and where he spent much of his time growing up. He was “Fifi” to many and loved to create things from wood, whether by whittling or elaborate saw work. He was hilariously funny and loving and loyal. He was always there for us anytime we needed him. He was much loved and will be much missed, but we will see him again on the other side. 

A private family service will be held at a later date.
