Carson Vittetoe, age 77 of Knoxville, passed away doing what he loved, working the land at his family homestead, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He honorably served his country for 23 years and retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He loved fishing, golf, and working on his farm. He is preceded in death by daughter, Karen Jean Vittetoe; parents, Ruben and Mamie Vittetoe; sisters, Blanche Thomas and Trudy Seviers; and brother Tommy Vittetoe. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Carlene Vittetoe, daughters, Donna Kedrow and husband Paul, Becky Cox and husband Steve, and Deborah McKinney and husband Scott, all from Knoxville, TN; sons, Greg Vittetoe of Hilton Head, SC, and David Vittetoe and wife Caren, of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Lauren, Elizabeth, and Paul David Kedrow, Steven and Benjamin Cox, Carsen and Bailey McKinney and Matthew, Graham, and Lillian Vittetoe; sisters, Billie Deaton, Margaret Cress, and Sue Acuff-Williams; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Family and friends will meet 10:15 am Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Ft. Sumter Community Cemetery for 11:00 am interment.
