Carol Mynatt Fortner, age 69 of Knoxville, passed away of cancer November 14, 2021. She was an active member of Union Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching her Pre-school Sunday School class. She was one of the first teaching assistants at Halls Elementary School, where she worked for over 30 years. She felt it was her calling to work with children whether it was in school or in church. Carol enjoyed quilting, cooking, and canning. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be remembered as a special lady for her smile that warmed the heart. Preceded in death by husband Arthur Fortner, father Emerson Mynatt, and brother Randy Mynatt. Survived by loving daughter April Randolph (Blake), grandchildren Macie and Cooper Randolph, brother Dwight “Butch” Mynatt (Pam), sister Gwen “Gina” Mynatt (Brad), mother Cecil Welch Mynatt, special niece and nephew Jesika and Blake Norman, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, November 18, 2021, Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, Rev. Gary Vandergriff officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45am Friday, November 19, 2021, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery for a 11:00am interment. Pallbearers will be Brad Bingham, Brent Wright, Blake Norman, Jeff Welch, Mike Welch and Eddie McMillan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Wright, Harvey Wright and Frank McMillan.
