Carl Winfield Warwick, born October 26, 1926 to Luppy Winfield and Nellie Arzetta Brewer Warwick in Anderson County TN in the Fairview Community passed away January 19, 2021. Carl was an only child and lost his dad at a very young age. Carl was blessed to have a loving mother who married Charlie Cox and helped keep the farm from going under during the Great Depression. Carl was able to start working for the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge Tennesse, and was one of the first 100 employees with site building during the early years of Oak Ridge. Carl eventually got into the shipping and inventory as an expeditor. He was proud of the 40 + years of service working at K-25, Y-12, and X-10. Like many workers, he suffered health issues and was able to obtain DOL Health Care during his last years of life. Carl enjoyed trading and flea markets all of his life. Carl married Martha Ammons in 1948 and of his marriage were born 5 children. After his divorce, Carl married Pearl Stewart DeFoor in 1969. Carl enjoyed going to church with Pearl. They traveled all over East TN and Georgia together attending church, revivals, and singings. Carl lost Pearl in August, 2008. She was waiting in heaven for him along with his mom and dad, son Rod, step sons A.J. DeFoor, Roy Howard and his daughter Tammy, granddaughter Melissa Blair, grandsons, Daniel and Jesse Dunlap, close friend and caretaker Ruby Headrick, with many other friends of his 94 years.
Left to give remembrance to Carl are his children and step children: Dennis (Sandy) Warwick, Kimberly (Tim) Jones, Chris Warwick, Lori (Dean) Brown and family, Linda Dunlap (his stand by helper), Maxine (Jerry) Dunlap, Diana (Mark) Caldwell, daughter in law Patsy (AJ) DeFoor. Grandchildren: Robert (Kim) Howard, Scott Dunlap, Chad (Kristi) Dunlap, Tyler (Amber) DeFoor, Josh (Lindsey) Caldwell, Devin (Jessica) Jones, Natasha (Ray) Mehaffey, granddaughter in law Donna (Jesse) Dunlap. Carl would like to thank his friend of many years, Novella Waddell, for all her prayers and help. Additionally, the caregivers who cared for Carl over the years: Alice, Sylvia, Vanessa, Elizabeth, Mary, Bryan, Chereaka, Bridget, Alli, and Destiny, Kamala for PT. Many thanks to Dr. Sunil John for his treatment and care for Carl for the last 20 years. Carl would like to say thanks to David Buchanan for prayers and inspiration over the last 8 years.
As Carl entered into his Heavenly home, he is now free to see all of the beauty of Heaven because his blind eyes are open. He can hear from ears no longer deaf the Angels sing and be able to move freely without any struggles anymore. Thank you, God, for blessing us with Carl and for preparing a place for your children. Love, peace, and prayers for all. Covid is real!! Carl can say again, “I’m Alright” and he truly is alright now.
