Carl J. “CJ” Williams, age 88, of Knoxville, TN born in DeWitt County, Illinois April 14th, 1929, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 17th, 2017 at NHC Fort Sanders. Carl was a member of Buffat Heights Baptist Church. Carl was a veteran of the Korean War 1951 – 1953, retired from US Postal Service with 30 years of service in 1990. He was an avid bowler and a Life and Hall of Fame Member of the Tennessee State Bowling Association. Member of American Legions Post Two for 64 years. Preceded in death by his parents Carl R. and Mildred L. Williams, first wife Shirley Jean Williams, sons Alan Steven and Gary Williams, granddaughter Ashley Williams, and sisters Doris Andrews, Donna Robak, and Virginia Knuth all of Portland, Oregon. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Shirley Anne Williams, daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Tony Suttles, 1 grandson Rick Turner and wife Jamie, granddaughters Kelly Turner, Amber and Autumn Williams, step-granddaughter Elizabeth Clanton, 7 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Sandy Monday, and 4-legged companion, his dog Murphy. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Pat Summit Foundation, 520 W. Summit Hill Drive, Ste 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902. The family will receive friends on Friday April 21, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with service to follow at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Mark Kitts officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery for interment, with full military honors. Please leave online condolences at www.mynattfh.com
