Carl Edward Hensley, age 74 of Knoxville, was called home July 31, 2021. Anyone who knew Carl knew a wonderful compassionate man with many talents who enjoyed treasure hunting, NPR, and being a service to those he loved. His passing leaves a void in the world Carl retired from the U.S. Navy and a Vietnam Veteran in 1984 and returned to his home in Knoxville, Tennessee. Carl is preceded in death by his adoring mother June Hurst, and step-father Junior Hurst. His beloved grandparents Albert Oglesby, and Esther Neely Oglesby. Carl is survived by his best friend Myrtle Antoinette Fritz and her daughters Andie Rae and Bridgette Fritz, Uncle Lee Roy Oglesby, Brother David (Virginia) Dinwiddie, nephew William Johnson, cousins James Dotson, Judy Beason, Carla Rousseau, Carolyn Washam, Vicki Sayne, and Johnny Oglesby. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the local NPR Station (WUOT) and Wounded Warriors, or the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 04, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, funeral service to follow at 7:00pm. Family and friends will meet 10:45am at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery for an 11:00am interment.
