Carl Edward Fielden

September 3, 1934 — September 15, 2018

Carl Edward Fielden, age 84 of Halls Crossroads, peacefully entered into his eternal rest in the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on September 15, 2018. Saved by God’s merciful grace as a young man, Carl was a faithful member of Emory Valley Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force, honorably. He retired from Fairmont Supply located in Nashville, Tennessee. Preceded in death by parents Hobert and Amy Fielden, son Greg Fielden, all of Heiskell, sister Ann Tudor of Manchester, sister Geneieve Humphrey and brother Rev. Glen Fielden, all of Knoxville. Survived by wife of 59 years Vandilla Fielden, son Doug and wife Yvonne Fielden of Knoxville, grandchildren Amy Foust of Corryton, Dr. Aaron Fielden and wife Erin Fielden of Gaithersburg, Maryland, great-grandchildren Addyson Foust, Faith Fielden, Ella Fielden, and Lincoln Fielden. The family would like to thank Brenda Howey and Heather Turpin of Amedisys Hospice for their professional care during this time. Words cannot express the gratitude the family has for caregivers Susie Owenby, Glen and Aretta Walker, and Marlene Mays for their endless hours of loving care shown during the illness and passing of our beloved husband and father. Family will receive friends 5:00-8:00pm Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Emory Valley Baptist Church with service to follow at 8:00pm. Rev. Richard Nicely and Rev. Dale Parker will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 11:15am Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for an 11:30am interment service. Military honors will be performed by East Tennessee Volunteer Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers: Don Duncan, Jack Welch, Roy Stooksbury, Terry Archer, Dr. Aaron Fielden, and Todd Mills. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Ballard, Mike Atkins, Steve Bennett, Kent Collier, Ron Oldam, Daryl Collier, Jerry Haney, Buford Braden, and David “Peanut” Jenkins.
