Burnice Bentley Creech, age 75, passed away peacefully in his home in Knoxville, Tennessee, on February 26th, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. He was born in Cumberland, Kentucky in 1949, to Paul and Easter Creech. Upon graduating from Cumberland High School in 1968, he enlisted into the United States Navy, stationed in Norfolk, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Esther Creech; and siblings, Curtis, Brenda and David Creech. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gail Creech; two sons, Jason (Melissa) and Dustan (April) Creech; siblings, Buzz (Paul) Creech, Susan Benson, and Mary Strunk; four grandchildren, Tori Walls, Chaz, Corazon and Julius Creech. As well as one great grandchild: Abram Walls.
He had a rare gift for making others laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. While laboring as a coal miner for 39 years, he taught our family the importance of hard work, honesty and integrity. He could often be heard saying, “A man is only as good as his word.” Today, we mourn our loss and rejoice in his gain. He has fought a long battle, but today, he is at rest. For all who have entered into God's rest have rested from their labors. - Hebrews 4:10.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a celebration of life service to follow at 11:00 AM. Full military honors presented by Tri County Veterans’ Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider a donation to his widow, Gail Creech. Postal Mail: 7545 School View Way, Knoxville, TN 37938. Venmo: @GailCreech (Sherry Creech)
