Buddy Leon Williams, age 86 of Powell, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2014. Buddy was a member of Sunnyview Baptist Church and a deacon for 50 plus years. He was a truck driver in Knoxville and the surrounding areas where he drove for Huber & Huber and then for Smith’s Transfer for 44 years. Buddy and Opal sang with the Sunnyview Quartet along with Robert and Edith Perry for many years and later in a trio with Iva McGinnis. Preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Opal Irene Lewis Williams; mother, Mabel Williams, father, Raymond Williams; and brothers, Gene Williams and Jack Williams. Survived by daughters and husbands, Sue and Jeffrey Jones, Gail and Carl Norman, and Dixie and Gabe Price; son, Barry and wife Teri Williams; grandchildren, Phillip and Tammy Raby, Corey and Amanda Norman, Josh and Ashlea Norman, Caine Cagle and Sherri Trosper, Jordan and Tamara Cagle, Tosha Williams, Tyler Williams and Lindsey Lewis, Brady Williams, Tim and Matt Price; great grandchildren, Adam and Cody Raby, Cameron and Chase Norman, Presley Privo, Caden, Blaine and Hadley Opal Williams; great great granddaughter, Anberlyn Raby. The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Hospice and Caregivers, Mabel Teague and Trudy Chin for their devoted care. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Sunday at Mt. Herman Church Cemetery (Copeland Road) for 2:00 pm graveside service.
