Bruce Walker Thomas

Bruce Walker Thomas, age 76 passed away peacefully at his home in Knoxville on Friday, October 5, 2018. Bruce spent several years living in Matthews, NC and then returned to Knoxville where he was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church. Bruce was a devoted NASCAR fan and an avid pool player, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. Bruce was Honorably Discharged from the US Marine Corps in 1967 where he then joined the family business at Mavis Shoes on Market Square. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mavis Thomas, aunt Eleanor Raffoni and brother-in-law Dan Owenby. Survived by wife Patsy Byrd Thomas of Knoxville, daughter Dana Hutchinson and husband Greg of Matthews, NC, son Andrew Thomas and partner John Lupton of Charlotte, NC, sister Lanell Owenby of Matthews, NC, grandchildren, Sydnie Hutchinson and fiance Jeremy McAtee, Madi Hutchinson and Daniel Hutchinson of Matthews, NC, step-children, Sharon Disney, Randy Byrd and wife Francis all of Knoxville, 3 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
