Bruce H. Greene, Sr., age 80, of Powell, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center due to a recent illness. He was born November 5, 1936 in Sneedville, TN. He was a member of Greene’s Chapel Baptist Church and was employed for many years at Dempster Brothers and Carolina Steel. Bruce dearly loved his family and friends and also had a special love for animals, especially his many canine companions. He was a big fan of NASCAR and all UT sports, the Lady Vols most of all. He was also well known as one of the best crappie fisherman to ever “wet line” on Douglas Lake. He was preceded in death by parents Rufus “Bud” and Mayme Greene; daughter, Kathy Greene; and sister-in-law, Teresa Greene. Survivors include sons, Bruce Greene, Jr. and wife Becky, Kenny Greene and wife Penny, and James Greene; sisters, Ilene Haynes and husband Hubert, and Margene Elliott and husband Tom; brothers, Gary Greene, and Scott Green and wife Vickie; grandchildren, Angie (Matt) Davis, Jennifer (Josh) Bailey, Kristi Greene, and Melissa Greene; great-grandsons, Austin and Andrew Davis; as well as a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m., Tuesday at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery for interment at 11:00 a.m.
