Brian Edward Hatmaker, age 50, of Powell, passed away April 10, 2018 at UT Medical Center. Brian was a graduate of Anderson County High School in 1986. He and his wife, Teresa, were married on October 10, 2014 at Big Ridge State Park. Brian attended Beech Grove Baptist Church in Rocky Top, Tennessee.
Brian meant the world to so many people and touched so many lives. He never met a stranger and was a great storyteller. He loved to bring laughter and joy to everyone. We were blessed to have known and shared our lives with Brian. He loved sharing his testimonies of faith and felt that if he could make a difference in just one person’s life, then he had done what the Lord wanted him to do. We hope that he knew that he touched many lives thru his faith, love, compassion, and devotion to God. It’s a testament to who he was. Although he was unable to attend church regularly, he found joy, peace and comfort in listening to his gospel music and praising God. Staff at the hospitals could often hear him singing gospel music from his room and crying tears of joy, he called this “having church”. He coached little league football at NAGAF for many years. He loved spending time with family and friends making memories and living life to the fullest. Brian was Denver Bronco’s biggest (#1) fan and was able to attend several games with his son and friends. He received a heartfelt letter from John Elway when he had cancer in 2007 stating that he would be praying for him. He worked several manufacturing jobs, was a painter with his brother Keith, and his last job was working as a tire builder at Carlisle.
He is survived by his devoted wife and loving soul mate Teresa Wills Hatmaker; children Courtney Hatmaker and Justen Hatmaker (Emily Liles); stepchildren Jacob Thompson (Amanda) and Justin Thompson (Danielle); grandchildren Noah Hatmaker, Alivia Thompson, Kylovena Thompson, and Braelyn Thompson; parents Charles and Gail Hatmaker; brother Keith Hatmaker (Shannon); nephews and nieces Alex Hatmaker (Madelyn), Erynn Hatmaker, Sierra Foster (Fred), and Zane Wills; father-in-law and mother-in-law James and Sue Wills; brothers-in-law Tim Foster, Matt Wills (Christy) and Stephen Wills; special friends Jeff White, Jeff Foster, William and James Brady, Justin and Jason Linkes, Jerry Welch, and Anthony Brewer; little sisters Susie Kagley and Holly Rhyne.

At the end of the day, Brian’s life here on earth was a marvelous thing; a life that many of us will dearly, dearly miss. “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and has professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12.
