Brenda Joyce Haun

December 11, 1946 — March 15, 2020

Brenda Joyce Harvey Haun On Sunday, March 15, 2020, Brenda Joyce Harvey Haun, loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother went to be with Jesus at the age of 73, on the same day her daddy passed forty years earlier. Brenda was born on December 11, 1946 in Knoxville, TN to Elmer and Zelma Ruth Harvey. She had three beautiful children and five extraordinary granddaughters who were her world. She loved her mama, often referring to her as her best friend, and followed in her footsteps to become a hairdresser, co-owning a shop with her for many years. Brenda, or Nana B as her granddaughters knew her, had a flair for the dramatic, loved to dress in bright colors with big jewelry and always had her hair fixed and her nails polished. She didn’t measure happiness by what she had or didn’t have, but instead enjoyed spending time with those she loved, whether it was camping or drive-in movies as it was in her earlier days or playing cards and inventing games with her granddaughters in her later years. Brenda was a family girl, fiercely loyal and protective of her mama, siblings, and children even going so far as standing up to boys in the neighborhood that picked on her younger brother. She was known as Mama Brenda, Mama B, or Aunt B, to her friends and family as she often loved on, welcomed, and took care of so many others. She loved unconditionally, always supported you, even when it wasn’t easy to do, and never spoke a negative word about anyone. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Elmer. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Zelma Ruth and her children, Jeff (Jennifer), Lana, Robby (Maria). Brenda will be fondly remembered and missed by her five granddaughters: Monica, Leah, Sydney, Kendyl, and Blakely. Brenda is also survived by her sister, Judy (Tom)Mertz, brother, Randy Harvey, and several nieces and nephews. Pastor Luke, from Brenda’s home church of Southside Baptist will be officiating a small private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or www.kidney.org/donation.
