Bobby Wayne Barnes, age 74, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. “Big Bob” was a kind-hearted man who was known to be able to fix anything, always had a smile on his face and a helping hand. He was known for his great sense of humor. He was an avid UT fan. He loved watching his other favorite teams, the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Indians. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play their sports. He was a wonderful and very involved father and grandfather. Bobby was saved and baptized at age 11 at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. He attended Central High School, then was drafted into the Army in 1962 where he served as a medic in The Cold War while stationed in Germany. He was employed by Lake Erie Screw, Avondale Farms, Rohm and Haas, Sea Ray Boats, then retired from Rock Tenn in 2001. He was a member of Bright Hope Lodge No. 557 F.&A.M. Bobby was preceded in death by wife, Peggy Anny Mynatt Barnes; parents, Vina Tolliver and Adrian Barnes; and twin sister, Wanda Clark. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Ronnie Galyon; grandchildren, Breyar, Ryan, and twins, Brylee and Brinkley; sister, Pat Davis and husband, Glenn; brothers, Robert Barnes and wife, Teresa, Troy Barnes and wife, Sharon, and Adrian Barnes, Jr. and wife, Shannon; several nieces, nephews and “Sweet Beth”, who was like a second daughter. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees of Dr. Boppana, Dr. Feng, Tennova North Hospital, and Tennova Hospice for the wonderful care he received while at home. The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel 6:00- 8:00 pm Friday with memorial service to follow. Rev. Josh Jones officiating.
