Bobby Shoffner, age 83 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was born in Sharps Chapel, Union County, TN. Bobby did his undergraduate work at East Tennessee State University and acquired his Master’s degree at The University of Tennessee where he enjoyed football with the Vols. He began his career as a teacher and coach at Horace Maynard, later at Rush Strong and Catholic High School. He was Civil Defense Director for 24 years. Bobby was preceded in death by parents, P.V. (Pett) and Nila Shoffner; sister, Jane Bowman. Survived by his wife, Lillian Shoffner, with 61 years of marriage; son, Terry Shoffner and daughter-in-law, Karen; grandchildren, Autumn Phillips and husband Corey Phillips and Scott Shoffner; great-grandchildren, Leah Cobble and Alexis Phillips, many nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral service 7:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. John Holland officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Thursday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for 11:00 am interment. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
