HUDSON, BOBBY N., age 87, a proud veteran of the US Navy went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee on January 13, 1937.

At the age of 17, Bobby enlisted in the US Navy. He valued his service highly and attained the rank of Chief Boatswain Mate prior to his retirement in 1973. His military career includes 10 years aboard the USS Princeton LPH5 serving in the Pacific Fleet; as well as assignments in Vietnam, Korea, and Italy. He received the National Defense Service Medal, multiple Good Conduct Medals, Vietnam Service & Campaign Medal, China Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat, Joint Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Vietnam Technical Service Honor Medal.

After 20 years of service in the US Navy, Bobby retired to Powell, Tennessee. In civilian life, he trained for and began his own business, Hudson Heating & Air Conditioning. He enjoyed serving his customers for many years before retiring again in 1994. Bobby loved spending time with family, camping, and traveling with his RV buddies. He always enjoyed a good laugh even when the joke was on him and seeing the ocean or touring a decommissioned ship, was like going home after all his years in the Navy. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years and children’s mother, Eva Smith Hudson; father, Ted Hudson; mother, Clara Payne Hudson Barnes, and stepfather, Thurman Barnes; brothers, Kenneth Hudson and Arnold Barnes.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janice Hudson; daughters, Denise (Robert) Keys and Debbie (Mike) Lawson; son, Robert (Patti) Hudson; grandchildren, Aaron Tussey, Bryana (Brett) Constantine, Jeff Hudson, and Jeff Lawson; several great grandchildren; sisters Vivian (AJ) Baker and Novella Waddell; sisters-in-law Sue Barnes and Ruth Latham; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel in Powell, TN.  Honoring the life of Bobby, family and friends will gather at 10:45 am for an 11:00am graveside service on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918 with US Navy Chaplain officiating.  Military honors will be rendered by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
