Simmons, Sr., Billy J., age 72 of Washburn, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by loving friends and family. Retired from Knox County Juvenile Detention Center and lived his life as an avid hunter. He was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Simmons; brothers, Levy Dykes, Howard Dykes, Perry Simmons. Survived by daughter, Debbie Lewelling and husband Pete; son, Billy Simmons and wife Tara; step son, James Dodson; grandchildren, Josh Lewelling and wife Brooke, Todd Lewelling, Hunter and Payton Simmons; 2 great grandchildren, Paisley and Easton Lewelling; sister, Betty Amanns and husband Dan; brother, Jerry Simmons and wife Ruth Ann; several nieces, nephews; special friend and companion, Pat Sellers. The family offers a special thank you to Darlene Coffey and Yvonne Hodge. Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Powder Springs, TN with funeral service to follow. Rev. Greg Hurst and Rev. Richard Nicley officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:45 am Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery for 12:00 Noon interment.
