Betty McBee Sloan, age 97, passed away peacefully at The Courtyard Senior Living, where she had lived for over 7 years, on Thanksgiving morning. Betty was a lifelong member of Washington Presbyterian Church. She was born on September 18th, 1924, in Corryton, where she lived until she joined the Navy. She was part of the Waves and based out of Norfolk, Va. After leaving the Navy she lived in Atlanta for many years where she worked for Delta Airlines. She eventually came back home to Corryton and worked at the University of Tennessee Library. She loved to travel the world and experience may different cultures and experiences. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Alice McBee and her brother Charles McBee. She is survived by her nephew Jim McBee (Matt) of Colorado Springs, Co, and nieces, Nancy McBee Nevader (Owen) of Knoxville and Becky Hutchinson (David) of Corryton, and great-nieces Gabby Bratcher, Sydney Hutchinson and great-nephew Ayden Hutchinson. The family would like to thank the staff at The Courtyard Senior Living and Amedisys Hospice for taking such good care of her. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday November 30th at 3pm at the McBee Family Cemetery in Corryton, with Pastor Rick McIntee officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the home of David and Becky Hutchinson, located at 9801 Washington Pike, before the service from 1-3pm.
