Mays, Betty Jane Holland - With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother. She was born at Ft. Oglethorpe Army Post on December 29, 1929 in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. Betty passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing class of 1951. Upon graduation she worked at St. Mary's Hospital, Ft. Sanders Hospital and NHC Convalescent. * She was a life-long member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband Bruce P. Mays, parents Col. Benjamin F. and Helen Holland, son David L. Mays (Jodi), sons-in-law Mark Dunlap and Tim Woodford. Brothers and sisters, Col. Benjamin F. Holland, Jr., Barbara Myers, Sally Sentell and William Holland. She is survived by her children Steve Mays (Sharon), Gary Mays (Susan), Paula Dunlap, Sandy Woodford, sister Patty Quincey and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A private interment was held at an earlier date. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Sacred Ground Hospice House.
