Betty Jean Johnson Baker went to rest in the arms of Jesus on December 18, 2015. Betty was born on August 15, 1934 to Frank and Beulah Johnson. She was a retired beautician. Betty was a member of Olivet Baptist Church. She taught children in Sunday school for many years, taking great pleasure in watching many of the children becoming active Christian leaders in their church. Survivors include husband of 40 years Vernon Pat Baker; son Jerry L. (Patti) Chambers and James P. (Tammy) Chambers; step children Doug Baker, Jeff (Donna) Baker and Lisa (Steve) Lowe; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and sister Evelyn (Earl) Street. Tears of sorrow are shed for the loss of our precious wife and mother, but also tears of joy because of God’s grace in giving our family the peace that passes all understanding. Funeral Service will be 7pm Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Johnny Price officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am at Greenwood Cemetery on Tuesday for an 11am Interment Service. Family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday December 21, 2015 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel.
