Betty Davis Lakin, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 14th, 2017, at Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church in Corryton and a member of the Eastern Star, Corryton Chapter #337. Betty was always most comfortable in her role as a mother. Whether it be as a “Lunch Lady” at Corryton Elementary School, as a “Room Mother”, as a Cub Scout Den Mother or as a mother to any kid who came across her path. During her later years, she was the beloved “Miss Betty” to groups of unruly pre-schoolers at church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lakin; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis of Luttrell, sister Georgia Warwick; and brothers, Leon Davis and Wilburn Davis. She is survived by her son, Richard Lakin and his partner, Charles Williams; sister, Lois Beeler, and many nieces and nephews, both natural and adopted. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19th, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Steve Doyal and Rev. Hugh Doug Wilder will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Little Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
