Betty Corrine Clowers Smart, age 83, passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer, on July 7th, 2016 at UT Medical Center with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Betty was a member of Inskip Baptist Church. She was a strong and sweet soul with a fiesty personality and an infectious laugh who loved to sing. Betty loved her family and friends big. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Clyde and Linnie Clowers, loving husband Rev. Haskew Smart and stepson and daughter-in-law Johnny and Janice Smart. She is survived by her children Jan (Jim) Rector, Eddie Mannis, Robby (Kevin) Mannis; step-children Jean (John) Rhyne, Carolyn Foster, Alice Hood (Glen) Laws and Terry (Kenny) Widener; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, sisters Lillie Willett, Elsie Kramer, Ruth Ann (Leo) Longbottom and brother James (Marge) Clowers; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Susan Newman and the staff at UT Medical Center for the love and care shown for Betty. The family offers its sincerest gratitude to the staff and residents at Windsor Gardens Assisted Living. She loved all of you.
