Bessie Loy Spoon, age 101 of Knoxville, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 9, 2016. Bessie was born August 3, 1914 in Union County. Bessie was a member of City View Baptist Church where she was a long and faithful member who loved her church so deeply. She was preceded in death by her so loved husband Herbert G. Spoon, who called her by her pet name “Butch”; parents Lee and Pearl Loy; sisters Lucille Vineyard, Dolly Burton, Elizabeth Vandergriff; brothers Romie E. Loy and John (JC) Loy. She is survived by Osie Kirkland, who she raised as the daughter she never had and the grandson she never had Michael D. Kirkland. Other family members include nieces Judy V. Noblitt (Wade), Tilda Bowling (Ronald), Nancy J. Chitwood (Rick), Joy A. Loy Nichols (Gary), Sue Knepp; nephews Ron L. Loy, Charles “Sonny” Burton (Barbara) and John Loy (Anita); great-nephew, Phillip W. Hatcher; great-niece Sammi Chafin; special neighbor, friend, and true blessing in her life, Cheryl Geams. A special “Thank you” to Golden Living Center-Windwood at Clinton TN. Especially Vicki, Mary Beth, Kara, Debbie, and Nancy K. To nurses Susan, Diana, Barbara, Becky, Courtney, and Connie, your care for Bessie was a true blessing. To the girls on North 100 your care, concern, and patience is appreciated so very much. Service will be 8pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Rev. Gene Hurley and Rev. Luckey Steele officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to City View Baptist Church, 2311 Fine Ave, Knoxville, TN 37917. Family and friends will meet 1:45pm Thursday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for 2pm interment.
