Bertha A Bruce Vazzana, age 89, peacefully went to her heavenly home on the afternoon of September 3, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1933 in Stinking Creek, TN to the late Leonard and Teresa Bruce. She graduated from Carter High School. She was a 1954 graduate of the Baptist School of Nursing and worked as an ER nurse at Baptist Hospital until she retired in 1995. She enjoyed being with her family and her grandchildren. She was an avid reader. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, George Vazzana; son, Joe Vazzana; sisters, Leona Von Brethorst, Ava Branum, Audrey Bradley, Vida Gaylor, Wilma Johnson, and Joann Zobel; brothers, Willard “Pete” Bruce, Howard Bruce, Lawrence Bruce, and John Bruce. Survived by her daughters, Georgene Tabor and MaryAnn (Mike) Morris; grandchildren, Daniel (Veronica) Tabor, Caroline Day, Micah Tabor, Zachary Morris, and Adam Morris; five great grandchildren; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Juanita Cooper and Caris Healthcare for taking care of her in her final days. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 with a service to follow at 7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Mark McCoig officiating. Family and Friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 12:45 pm for a 1:00 pm graveside service on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
