Barbara Ellen Meade (Hughes)

Barbara Ellen Meade departed this life at 76 years old to be with her Lord and Savior on January 18, 2025, while surrounded by her family.  She was born in Oxford, Alabama and moved to Knoxville, TN in 1963.  Barbara loved antiquing, visiting yard sales, and every KARM store she could find.  She was also an avid gardener, having learned from her parents. Her vegetable and flower gardens were very much admired.  Barbara never met a stranger, and her sense of humor and wit made her one of a kind.  She was generous to all, and to know her was to love her.

We want to extend a very special thanks to all Medical Personnel who provided her with great care, comfort and hope. 

 Barbara was preceded in death by first husband Dennis Meade and subsequent love of her life, husband James Hughes.  Also preceded by father, Lindsey Snow, mother Gemma Jenkins and sister Carolyn Graham. She is survived by sons, Steven and Marcus Meade, sister Lori Ann Seymour, brothers Lowell, Kenneth, Rodney, Michael and Timothy Snow; grandchildren, Chelsey and Austin Meade; great grandchildren, Desmond, Isabella and Adalynn Meade; 

Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Service at Mynatt Funeral Home Located in Fountain City at 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, and will then leave in procession for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, Rev. Charlie Lynch officiating.
