Barbara “Bobbie Jo” (Ramsey) Jenkins - Jones, age 90, passed away July 27, 2021. She graduated from Powell High School in 1948 and National Business College in 1949. Barbara retired from Internal Revenue Service, Taxpayer Service Division in 1991 with 20 years of service. She was a member of Cedar Lane United Methodist Church. Barbara was a lifetime member of DAV Auxiliary. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, reading, working puzzles with her friend, Terri Pendergrass, attending Young at Heart meetings at her church and playing with her great grandchildren. Barbara loved her family, extended family, and her church family as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, Jacob C and Edna Ramsey; siblings, Jacob C. Ramsey, Jr and Helen Marie Ramsey; daughter, Marquann Jenkins; husbands, Leonard C. (L.C.) Jenkins and George M. Jones; and special cousin, Mari Etta Benson.
She is survived by her son, James L. Jenkins; granddaughters, Rachel (Jonathan) Young and Natalie (Wayne) Golden; great-grandchildren, Isaac Wayne Golden, Judah Everett Golden, and Maggie James Young; sister, Patsy Bayne; nieces, Teri Lux and Pati Cox; 2 great nieces; 1 great nephew; 2 great great nephews; 1 great great niece; step children, Sharon (Buster) Herd and Gregory Jones; step grandchildren, Leslie (Andrea) Isham, Misty Jones, and George R. Jones; 6 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. Barbara gave motherly love to several young friends, Laura McElroy Sayer who was her daughter’s best friend and like a second daughter and those who had lost a parent or grandparent, Terri Pendergrass, Dwayne Rhyne, Tracy (Billy) Thompson, my beautician and friend, and several others. “Thank you to Dr. Robert C Alley, my physician for over twenty years of medical care and friendship. Thank you to Amedysis Home Health & Hospice Care and staff for the great care they gave the family and Lisa Green, my hospice nurse, for her loving care and friendship.”
Graveside services will be held at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 12:30pm with Rev. Richard Richter officiating. This will be a Celebration of Life service with interment to follow.
