Barbara Jean Holbert

Barbara J. Holbert, age 86, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and assisted by Tennova Hospice. Barbara was born in 1931 in Knoxville, TN, the eldest of 6 children. After school, she enlisted in the United States Air Force. She then married Fred William Holbert, who died in 1990. They had two children and raised three children from Mr. Holbert’s former marriage. Barbara was an excellent seamstress and worked at Kuppenheimers of fine men’s suits notoriety and at John Daniels, where she was responsible for many of the costumes used by the cast of “Hee Haw.’ She later worked for the Knox County Schools from which she retired. Barbara is survived by her children Linda Holbert, Brandon Holbert, W.W. “Chuck” (Kim) Holbert, Shirley Holbert, and Mrs. Gary (Pam) Holbert, siblings Richard Collins, Genia (Lee) Doane, Buddy (Irma) Collins, and Donald Collins; grandchildren Joshua (Robin) Holbert, Dean Holbert, Brooke (Holbert) Anderson, Bryson, Elijah, and Trevor Holbert, Maranda, Marissa, and Travis Holbert; great-grandchildren Haley and Ethan Anderson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who remained close to her. Family and friends may call at their convenience on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery.
