Cardwell, Rev. Arville K. – age 74, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014. Saved at an early age and of the Baptist faith, Arville served as a Deacon before being called into the ministry at the age of 32. Arville pastored and preached for many years in the East Tennessee area. A professional in the sign business, he worked in the signage industry in the Southeast until his retirement. Arville was an avid UT football and basketball fan and enjoyed building and selling birdhouses in recent years. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Rutha Cardwell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Madeline Burke Cardwell; loving daughter, Sandra Cardwell of Knoxville and son, Scott Cardwell and daughter-in-law Monica Ripley; and precious granddaughter Isabella Cardwell all of Melrose, Massachusetts; sister, Jewell Field of Elliston, Virginia; sister, Iva Griffith of Bowling-Green, Kentucky; sister, Diane Herrell and husband L.B. of Knoxville; brother, JB (Jim) Cardwell and wife Kathy, of Clinton, Tennessee. Several special nieces and nephews, family, friends and loved ones. Arville was a man of strong faith and one of his favorite Bible verses that symbolized his life is found in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” Funeral service 8:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Wayne Henderson officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home and proceed to Ft. Sumter Cemetery for 2:00 pm interment. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
