Rev. Artis Brantley, 88, of Maynardville, went to live with his Heavenly Father on September 15, 2014 with loved ones by his side. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In his earlier years, he had pastored at Zion Hill, Hines Creek, Byrams Fork, Macedonia, and Mount Olive Baptist Churches. Also, he held many revivals in the local area as well as in Jamestown, Tennessee and Kokomo, Indiana. He also sang in various gospel groups. The last scripture he quoted in the hospital was John 14:6. Preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Emma; brother, Everett; sister, Nola Tharpe; and wife, Marie. Survived by wife, Doris; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Edith; sisters-in-law, Ruth Skeen and Katherine Flynn; brother-in-law, James Savage, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Pastor Charlie Tindell, Michele Stanford, and Tim Witt. Receiving of family and friends will be at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday. The service will follow with Rev. Charlie Tindell and Rev. Richard Nicely officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:15 pm on Saturday at the funeral home for a procession to Hines Creek Baptist Church Cemetery for a 2:00 pm graveside service. Pallbearers will be R.L. Jones, David Jones, Junior Jones, Glen Jones, Wade Brantley, and Ronnie Graves.
