Arthur Carroll Barnes was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Arthur will be remembered as a very exceptional person.       He was born the son of Robert and Barbara Barnes on September 7, 1930 in Cosby, Tennessee. He had three sisters, JoAnne, Velma, and Jaunita.        Arthur married Barbara Hurst and they lived happily together for 58 years. Arthur worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Arthur was blessed with two daughters, Donna and Deborah. Another blessing for Arthur was the gift of five grandchildren, Tim, Chris, Jennifer, Dana and Denise as well as seven cherished great-grandchildren.      Fortunately, Arthur enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Arthur worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was as a shipping supervisor. He was employed for Container Corporation of America. Arthur always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.      Arthur was an Army veteran. He was a gaurd at Spandau Prison in Berlin, Germany. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.      Arthur enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends at Deer Run Campground in Crossville, Tennessee during spring and summer, and also at Clerbrook Resort in Clermont, Florida during fall and winter.       Arthur’s faith was important to him. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. During that time, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher and RA Leader.      Arthur passed away on September 28, 2012 at at home. Arthur fought a brave battle with cancer. Services were held at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Arthur was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.      Simply stated, Arthur was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Arthur leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Arthur Carroll Barnes.
