Arlin Jay Kite

October 4, 1953 — April 20, 2021

Arlin Jay Kite, 67, went by Jay but if you wanted to call him Arlin, you better add Darlin in front of it. He was welcomed into heaven with a bear hug from Jesus. He was not much of a hugger until he became “papaw Jay”, but never left his grandkids without a bear hug, and a see ya around ya little punk. He had 12 “stinkin little brat” grandkids and it varied day by day “who’s the biggest brat I know” but usually ends with “Kitelee, Kitelee Go Go Go”. He was a friend to many. It didn’t matter your age and usually had a nickname for anyone he encountered. He was a sports lover and was known for his “here we go Tennessee, here we go, hoo hoo” chant. He loved Cubs baseball and was a loyal fan even when they were terrible. When you went to Jay’s, you were always welcomed with good loud music, a good ball game, and good food. He was known for his “mondo burgers”, secret recipe chili, a delicious steak, and his grandkids favorite, spaghetti and meatballs. Anyone was always welcome and whether you asked for it or not, you usually got a very opinionated life lesson that started with “the thing about that is…” His true love in life was his daughters and maybe the golf course and he was one proud dad. Most of his life was dedicated to raising his daughters and they are his pride and joy. His girls are his true legacy. Jay had many talks about how he wanted to go out and the funeral home was not his style. How do you celebrate a man that liked to have a good time and was a friend to everyone he met? With a celebration! We invite you to celebrate Jay Kite’s life with us on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 4:30 pm, 1902 East Brushy Valley Rd., Powell, TN 37849. He loved a good gathering, with food, music, and friends…and that’s how he will be celebrated. Please bring all of your best “Jay stories” to share. He was a man that always showed up, although he might not stay long. He loved to go home usually because there was a ball game to watch. Jay went to his eternal home and we have no doubt Jesus had the game on for him. Although it hurts, we are comforted by his famous words, “There ain’t nothing you can do about it.” Until we see you again, “see ya around, clown.” Condolences for the family may be shared at www.mynattfh.com.
