Arlie “Ross” Williford Jr. age 73, of Knoxville, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Ross was a devoted member of Forestdale Baptist Church and pastored several churches around Knoxville and the surrounding counties. He was preceded in death by his father, Arlie Williford Sr.; mother, Burlene Denny; grandson, Jeff Williford; and sister, Vickie Horner.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edith Williford; sons, Bill (Melissa) Williford and Marcus Williford; daughter, Sondra (Ronnie) Roberts; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Williford; and sisters, Judy Bright, Janice Garrett, Arlene Rogers, and Tina Haggard.
Ross dedicated 30 years to UPS and served as a part-time pastor until his retirement, after which he fully committed to his ministry. He had a passion for gardening and yard work, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching old westerns, playing checkers, and sharing his faith. Known for his generous heart, Ross was always ready to help those in need.
Pallbearers will be Billy Williford, Marcus Williford Jr., Logan Williford, Caleb Williford, George Day, and George Day Jr., with Carl Williford serving as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Family and friends will gather at the graveside at 10:45 AM on Thursday, April 17, at Fort Sumter Cemetery for an 11:00 AM Graveside Service with Rev. Jonathan Tharpe conducting the service. Special thanks to Dr. Gadde and Sara Jones and all the staff at UT Cancer Specialist and also UT Hospice and the dedicated nurses for their exceptional care during his illness.
