Archie Donald Barnes

Archie Donald Barnes PE Lt. Col. (Retired USAF), age 82, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Archie was born May 29, 1941. Archie was Saved and Baptized at Luttrell Baptist Church, Luttrell, Tennessee. and was an active member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. He retired as Commander of the 134th Civil Engineering Squadron, retired director of Base Engineering at McGhee Tyson ANG Base and a retired General Contractor. Archie was preceded in death by Carol Dean Brantley Barnes, wife and mother of their three children; father, Reverend Bruce William Barnes; mother, Clara Barnes; brother, Jimmie Bruce Barnes; sisters, Helen Hankins and Joyce Chesney. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Barnes; son, Michael William (LeAnn) Barnes; daughters, Angela Gail Barnes (Brad) Vineyard and Kimberly Dean Barnes (Tim) Montgomery; grandchildren, Annabelle, Paxton and Austin Barnes, Ashlan, Nicklas and Kelsey Hudson, Matthew, Alex, Aidan Montgomery and Mackenzie Garcia; great grandchild, Sam Barr. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM Dr. David Harkins officiating. Family and friends will meet by 12:45 PM Monday, March 18, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 PM graveside service with full military honors.
