Antoinette “Anne” McKinney, age 78 of Knoxville, passed away April 17, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was full of personality and spunk. Anne enjoyed gardening, crafting, cooking, and all things pretty. Her heart always went out to the underdog, and she gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. She was selfless, classy, and hardworking. Anne was a great story teller; each time she told a story, it got a little bit better. She loved the life she shared with her husband, Jimmy.
She is survived by her children Joanne, Bobby, Tracy, Tammy, and Lisa, as well as her 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They would all agree that she was the best of us, though we have all been blessed with her amazing qualities.
If Anne were here, she would say, “Don’t be sad for me. I lived a fulfilling life & have a great family. Bip bip bip- I’m no longer in pain.” She would want her family to know: Joanne, I’m going to miss out on your birthday card this Christmas… I always said better late than never. Bobby, thanks for sawing off my coffee table legs when you were a kid. That was a great start to your career. Tracy, I’ll miss playing Scrabble with you and letting you win so much. Tammy, you are one badass mother-- I know because it takes one to know one. Lisa, you were my favorite, and there’s a mug to prove it. Kim, I gave you away at your wedding; thank you for coming back to me. Carly, I believe in you, you’ve got this; and remember, I would never leave you on the side of the road. Jess, thanks for the playlist and our car radio duets. Jake, it’s up to you now- take care of Jimmy. And especially, Jimmy- I’m so grateful you came back from Iraq. It’s been an adventure with you from Armonk to Knoxville; I wish it could’ve been longer.
