Ann Lynn (Sumter) Barnes, age 81, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2022. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and New Providence Church in Lenoir City. She worked as an office manager for Knoxville Cardiovascular Group for many years before retiring. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lucille Sumter; sister, Barbara Boatman, and grandson; Nick Kennedy. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Tipton Barnes Jr.; son, Reggie Barnes (Penney Sweet); daughter, Missy Mincey (Frank Silva); grandsons, Jason (Michelle) Mincey, Justin (Brittany) Mincey, Eric Kennedy, and Coley Barnes; great grandson, Jackson Mincey and Baby Hutton due in August/September; and great granddaughters, Adriana Kelley and Charlotte Mincey; lifelong family friends the Gorghis, Wilson, and Stansberry families.
The family will receive friends on June 7, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm service to follow at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. John Holland officiating. Family and friends will meet at Fort Sumter Cemetery 10:45 am for an 11:00 am graveside service on June 8, 2022, with Pastor Allen James officiating. Condolences can be shared at www.mynattfh.com.
