Alvin Leonard Mitchell, “Rat”, age 66, of Knoxville, passed away November 12, 2017. Alvin was retired from DeRoyal Industries and a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church. He loved his coffee, video games, his John Deere, the outdoors, and was an avid Vols fan. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Frances Mitchell; father-in-law, Wilmer Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Mitchell; daughters, Angie Mitchell, Jennifer & Keith Sharp, and Ashley Longmire; son, Erik Mitchell; grandchildren, Kayla, Bailey, Evan, Madison, Braylen, Caleb, Jenna, and Blake; sister, Vicki & David Pinkston, mother-in-law, Delories Savage; brother-in-law, Dean Phillips; sisters-in-law, Sue Henegar, Tammy Moyers, and Wendy Phillips and many other cherished family members. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. Rev. Wayne Lay officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 am, Friday, November 17, 2017 at the funeral home to go in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 11:00 am graveside service.
