Alvin Leon Riggs, age 85, of Knoxville, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26th, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was member of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and worked for 26 years for Southern Dairies. He retired after 15 years from Avondale Dairies and was also an “unofficial” employee of Regas Restaurant. Preceded in death by wife of 63 years Hazel Riggs, son Roger Riggs and daughter Becky Riggs. Survivors son and daughter-in-law Tim and Kim Riggs, grandchildren Brandon Riggs, Kayla Riggs Palmer and husband Dean, Panda Riggs and Eric Ridenour, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special nieces Kathy Sharp and Sue Ledington. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 30th, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Foster will be officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017 at Mt. Harmony Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. interment service.
