Alden Lewis Springfield (“Lewis”), 69, of Knoxville, TN, passed away at home on March 10, 2025. Lewis was born on March 28, 1955, in Jackson, AL to E.A. Springfield and Maedelle Springfield. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Pat Springfield, his two loving children Ryan Springfield (Aly) and Holley Springfield, and three grandchildren Eva Springfield, Easton Springfield, and Liam Springfield. He is also survived by his mother Maedelle and sister Linda Vick (Randy). Lewis was a graduate of Thomasville Academy and Auburn University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. Lewis had a successful career working as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager for over 40 years and recently retired in 2022. Throughout his professional career, the relationships he built with coworkers and industry colleagues regularly turned into lifelong friendships that he cherished until his passing. Lewis was a man of faith and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. No matter where he was living, he and Pat always found a church home and found ways to serve their church family, usually through food, serving in Sunday School, or as a church Deacon. Lewis enjoyed traveling, particularly by way of motorcycle. Some of his favorite destinations included anywhere out west, Glacier Mountain National Park, the Rocky Mountains, and frankly anywhere other than the beach. Lewis was an avid hunter from a young age, carrying this passion into adulthood, and was looking forward to taking more hunting trips during his retirement. On any given Saturday, you could find him at a local gun show assuring Pat he would be home “soon” and that he was “just looking.” In spite of being a graduate of Auburn University, he was a dedicated Alabama fan and proudly wore his Alabama gear here in Knoxville. Lewis was the definition of kindness, was quick witted, loved to feed people, and enjoyed watching animated movies (grandchildren need not be present). It was the joy of his life to be a husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be greatly missed by so many. Services will be held at Beaver Dam Baptist Church on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a memorial service led by Dr. Alan Price to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or National Parks Conservation Association in memory of Lewis Springfield.
