Albert Sanders “Tomato Man” Hurst, age 92, of Knoxville, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 18th, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Albert was a lifelong active member of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church, a United States Navy Veteran who served honorably in World War II, and owned and operated Hurst Meat Processing for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Wilma Hunley Hurst, son, Charles Hurst, parents, David and Minty Jory Hurst, infant brother, Henry Hurst, and sister-in-law, Jean Hurst. He is survived by son, James Hurst, and wife Roberta, grandchildren, David, Scot, and John Hurst, Greg Stewart and Tami Watson, three great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Sharon Hurst, siblings, Lloyd Hurst, Billie Hurst, and wife Opal, and Mary Ruth Majors, and husband Jimmie, special friend, Charles McDaniel, nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family would like to say a special “thank you” to Blake, Estelle and Shelly of Tennova Hospice. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23rd, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Interment services, with military honors, will immediately follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Gary Watson, Rev. Stuart Skeen, and Rev. Gary Capps will be officiating.
