Adrian "Junior" Wallace Carr Barnes

April 25, 1955 — February 26, 2025

Knoxville, TN

Adrian “Junior” Wallace Carr Barnes, Jr went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2025. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. We can’t thank the exceptional hospital staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital enough. A special Thank You to nurse Tyler, who took great care of him while he was in the Intensive Care Unit.

Junior was a donor, and he was able to save 2 people their ability of sight by donating his corneas. He served these 2 people in death, just as he served so many in his community in life. He was a retired Lieutenant from the Knox County Sheriff’s office, where he left a huge impact on so many. A sincere, heartfelt Thank You to KCSO for their post on social media honoring Junior the day he entered his heavenly home. He was a fighter up until the end of his life. He was 3 plus years cancer free after beating Pancreatic Cancer. He really was Superman.

He leaves behind many loved ones, family and friends alike. He is preceded in death by his father and mother (Adrian Barnes and Hazel Roberts Barnes). Twin brother and sister (Bobby Wayne Barnes and Wanda Barnes Clark). He is survived by his loving fiancé Catherine Van Houton, who he often called his Angel. His sister Pat Davis (Glenn), brothers Bobby Barnes (Teresa), Troy Barnes (Teresa Farris), his son Bryan (Sarah), and step-daughter (Linsey). One grandson, Sloan, who he called his “little buddy.” He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Clear Springs Baptist Church 7350 Tazewell Pike Corryton, TN  37721 on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, followed by a 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service for those who would like to come share in the memory of such a special human being, Rev. Justin Pratt and Rev. Charlie Lynch officiating.

In lieu of flowers, we ask all to donate to the Knox County Officer Assistance Program to benefit those officers in need.   Condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
